Stop addicting adolescents to vaping and e-cigarettes

Vaping has become an “epidemic” according to the U.S. Surgeon General.  Health Canada has identified many risks associated with vaping. The alarming increase in e-cigarette and vape use among youth in Alberta has united us.

Stop Addicting Adolescents to Vaping and E-Cigarettes (SAAVE) is a group of high school students, undergraduate students, graduate students, medical experts and health researchers who are concerned about youth vaping in Alberta.

As of June 21, 2020, SAAVE urgently calls for:

1. amendment to Alberta’s Bill 19 to include the ban of flavours (except tobacco) and the restriction of nicotine concentration levels to 20mg/ml.

2. The United Conservative Party leader to permit UCP MLA’s to vote their conscience so that they can protect children and youth from developing a nicotine addiction.

We also ask parents and teachers across Alberta to join us in teaching youth about the dangers of vaping.
